Legal Question in Family Law in Kentucky
A couple marries sometime after a child is born, and both knowingly list the man as the father when he is not. If the man takes responsibility and both physically and financially provides for the child for many years, can the mother use this decision (made by both people) against him to regain custody after they split and he has been given custody of the child?

Probably not, because the mother is likely to be estopped from arguing against paternity, and also, the father is at the very least de facto custodian, being the only father the child knows.
You should seek the counsel of a local attorney who practices in family court to discuss the facts of the case and review your options.
