Legal Question in Family Law in Kentucky

My daughter will turn 18 in September. She is getting married at that time. Her dad has decided to try and get custody of her for the months until then. If I sign for her to marry now will that keep him from getting custody of her?

Unless there is something that would make her being in your physical custody of you or a problem with the legal custody then it is unlikely a judge would bother changing custody or timeshare with her turning 18 so soon. In addition, your daughter's wishes would be considered by the judge. So, the advantage of giving her several more months as a single person in which she can reconsider getting married at such a young age appears far more valuable than rushing her into a marriage just to get rid of any chance of her dad getting custody. If she married with consent now, she would be in neither yours nor her dad's custody. I recommend you give her singleness until she turns 18.
