Legal Question in Family Law in Kentucky

divorce decree

In my divorce decree I was given my ex-husbands credit card debts, If I do not pay on these credit card debts what can be done to me ? Can my ex-husband take me to court for not paying them ? What should I expect if he does take me to court for not paying them ? He makes more money than I do , he got our business and he does not turn in all the money that's made by the business because some of it is cash.So it looks like he only makes 12 to 15 thousand a year, which is not true. What advice could you give me regarding this issue of paying for his debt?

Re: divorce decree

If you do not pay the debts, the Court can hold you in contempt and you are subject to possible jail, fines or other penalties. From the information that you furnish, I can only assume that your divorce is final. This stuff should have been raised in the divorce proceedings. It is probably too late unless you can prove fraud on the part of your ex or newly discovered evidence. I hope that you were represented here. Speak to your attorney.
