Legal Question in Family Law in Kentucky
Duration of marriage?
In Kentucky statutes (403.190) it says that disposition of property in a divorce is granted based on several factors of which one is (c) Duration of the marriage. I cannot find where it says what the duration of the marriage must be?? I have been married for about a year (after living together for 9 years). We built a home, etc., we have quite a bit of debt now. However, he also has a lot of stock (over $100,000) with the company he works for. I am trying to figure out if I am going to be responsible for half of the debt, yet not entitled to any of the assets that are in his name?? Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Duration of marriage?
The short answer is that there is no set duration. The court looks at the duration of the marriage in terms of equity, and 9 years of cohabitation prior to marriage would, I believe, be a factor the court would weigh in the division of marital assets. Good Luck with your case.
