Emancipation

I'm almost 16 and I'm looking o get emancipated. my moms been in and out of jail for DUI and my dad is never home plus he smokes pot. my parents are divorced. i think i could support my self on my own when i get a job and i think i could not need help and if so i got my granny to help. I'm seeking how to get emancipated and if I'm able. if you can help please do.

There is no legal process in Kentucky to become emancipated. If your parents agree to you living on your own, you can provide for yourself, and you stay out of trouble, then you can be considered an emancipated minor. If at any point one or more of those things cease being true, then you are not emancipated. You can seek help with your family situation through school counselors, your church if you are associated with one, or through the state's social services. There is the chance that you would go into foster care if the state gets involved and it would likely be an improvement, but not necessarily.

Another option is to see if you parents would let you be in the guardianship of your grandmother.
