Legal Question in Family Law in Kentucky
If I hired a local lawyer and paid a retainer fee of $1500.00 for a divorce and the lawyer spent about $800.00 for beginning the divorce, and since then my husband and I have reconciled. Should I not get the difference back in legal fees? I wrote the lawyer and have not heard anything.

You should receive invoices from the attorney on a regular basis showing what has been earned on the retainer. The balance should be refunded to you upon your request and the ending of the representation. If the lawyer is treating the $1,500 as a non-refundable retainer (flat fee) then that had to have been disclosed in a written agreement at the beginning of representation.
