Legal Question in Family Law in Kentucky

Is it illegal to get a divorce just so I can go to college for free? I have a son so I could get a grant as a "single mom." Otherwise I cannot afford it.

The only reason you have to state you are requesting a divorce in Kentucky is that your marriage is irretrievably broken and you have to be separated for 60 days prior to the divorce being granted (separation does not mean that you cannot live together, it means no marital relations for 60 days). If you can state this under oath, then requesting a divorce is not "illegal." I have many clients who divorce due to bankruptcy issues, to protect assets, etc., so you would be fine in this situation provided you can answer yes to the above.
