Legal Question in Family Law in Kentucky

In Kentucky, does a Birth Certificate with the father's name on it suffice for paternity rights? Or do I need to obtain a copy of the Paternity Affidavit from the state? I have been told differntly from different people. Some say that the Birth Certificate is not the "legal" document because the mother could put anybody's name on it. While others have said that that if the mother was a single mother when the child was born, then the Paternity Affidavit had to be filled out before the father's name could be put on the Birth Certificate.

The birth certificate is pretty much meaningless concerning paternity. For a child born out of wedlock, paternity must be established.
