Grandparents basically have standing to petition the court to establish visitation with a grandchild, and that is about the extent of their "rights" in Kentucky. There are U.S. Constitutional issues involved that are too complex to go into here. The short version is that once you petition the court for visitation, the judge has tremendous discretion as to what, if any, visitation gets established. From that point, it depends on how earnest the losing party is in pursuing an appeal.
