Legal Question in Family Law in Kentucky

I live in KY and have been recently battling to keep my child out of his bio dads hands due to his alcoholism. I live three hrs away from where our court has been taking place. I have been in the court room for two of his motions and one of mine. He hasn't appeared for those so the judge stated that the motion I made would have to wait and that he was going to order the bio dad to apper. We went to court again today and he once again didn't show. If you don't show for an order to appear what happens? I was under the impression that it would be considered contempt of court for failure to appear and the judge (who has been extremely leanient) never said in court that there were going to be any consequences. I'm slightly frustrated because I've been driving every Monday over 400 miles for court and he lives in the county court is taking place and he hasn't been showing up even when ordered.

Get an attorney to appear for you and request that your presence be permitted by telephone. It will probably cost you less in time and gas expense to hire an attorney.
