If my girl friend and I get married and she has outstanding student loans will I then become responsible for those loans

It is not possible to give you a clear legal answer to your inquiry without a more detailed evaluation of the facts of your case.
Generally speaking, you are not responsible for your spouse's pre-marital debts, unless you co-signed the loan application or promissory note. In the case of debts acquired after marriage, Kentucky law provides that a husband is financially responsible for his wife's "necessaries." This has usually been interpreted as food, shelter, clothing, and medical services. There is a question as to whether or not this covers educational expenses, and the law itself may be unconstitutional, since it does not require the wife to pay for her husband's "necessaries."
