Legal Question in Family Law in Kentucky

Modify Child Support

I was married and divorced in Kentucky all of my legal matters with my childern are in Kentucky. Its been five years since the divorce and since that time my children and I live in Indiana and their father lives in Ohio. He is remarried and has two more children. My question pretains to child support and where do I get it modified? Do I need a Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio Atty? Any help you could me would be appreciated. The money situation is also tight so if there is anything i can do on my own I would like to know also.

Re: Modify Child Support

You would stay in the court of original jurisdiction in Kentucky UNLESS both of you agreed to go to court in another state, and the old court and new court also agreed with the change.

The reason for that is to keep people from "forum shopping" or looking for a state more favorable to their particular circumstances, to the detriment of their ex.

So, looks like you'll need a Kentucky attorney.

Modifications can be done by agreement, which would save both of you time and money, and could be handled exclusively by the lawyer and first-class mail.

Hope this helps!
