Legal Question in Family Law in Kentucky
My mother-in-law and father-in-law divorced about 7 years ago. In the divorce papers it says that she will receive 100,000.00 not even close to half of their property. He told her he would have my husband (their son) killed if she tried to get anything from him. She never even got the settlement from the divorce papers. Now he is kicking her out of the home she has been living in (he owns) and she only draws a little S.S. check each mth. She is 73 years old and is trying to find a job. We want to know if she has any options. Can she still sue for the original 100,000? Can she sue for her half on the grounds of his threats? She sincerely believes that he will try to hire someone to kill one of their children. We want her to do something anyway, put that in God's and the law's hands. She can't even buy food or meds most of the time. He has put almost everything he has in the name of his new wife. He had been in a relationship with his new wife for 14 years before he divorced my mother in law. He believes that this will make it impossible for her to ever get what he owes her. Will it?

She can go back to the court and move to hold him in contempt for not doing what was court ordered and explain that she had not pursued it prior to now due to the threats. It doesn't matter whose name he put property in, the court order is the court order.
