Legal Question in Family Law in Kentucky

moving out

I am 16. I no longer want to live with my parents in Kentucky. I want to move to Louisiana with my grandmother. How old do i have to be to legally move out? My parents will not agree to letting me move out and giving my grandmother custody. Is there any way she can gain custody of me without going to court or fighting my parents?

Re: moving out

In reality, your parents have control until you are 18. Until then, you are subject to their orders. If there is something else going on such as abuse, contact "Cabinet For Families and Children" in your county. The sheriff's office can tell you where they are. Talk to your school counselor. A lot of the times when we think that the grass is greener on the other side of the fence, it is not really greener, but it is how you see it in the light from your side. But, maybe not. Talk to someone.
