Legal Question in Family Law in Kentucky

Ordered to Pay Debts but Can't Afford to

I have been ordered to pay my ex-husband's credit card bills which total to over $4000. I cannot afford to pay them, nor has he provided me with the documentation to pay them, and now he is trying to charge me with contempt. Is there a law that states what happens when you absolutely cannot afford to pay the debts? Also can I be charged with contempt if the necessary documents haven't been provided for me to pay the debt? Thank you

Re: Ordered to Pay Debts but Can't Afford to

you have to obey the court order. I am assuming that you were represented by counsel and he/she

should be consulted. If you did not appeal the order, then you are obligated. Consult your attorney since he/she is familiar with the case. I do not know the basis of the court order and cannot advise you any further on that. You can be held in contempt for failure to obey a valid order.
