The hearings I've been to on behalf of clients for child support have generally been conducted privately, but the matters themselves are public record, and the docket isn't confidential. It's rather impossible that they would be, with wage garnishments and potential criminal charges for noncompliance. Some of the information the courts do keep confidential, relating to personal identifiers such as social security numbers and dates of birth.
