out of state rules for permanent custody
My husband and I live in Kentukcy and have permanent legal custody of a child. Neither one of us are the biological parents. We've filed a petition for involuntary termination of parental rights, to which the father consented. the birth mother, however, is hiding from us because she doesn't want us to adopt the child and we are unable to locate her to serve her the papers. (she lost custody years ago due to neglect) My question is: Can we move out of sta te?

You can move out of state with permanent custody. If there is court order visitation, though, you may want to move the court to modify it. As long as one of the parents remains in Kentucky, this state will likely retain jurisdiction over any future issues.
