Legal Question in Family Law in Kentucky
Unfair Judgement
I'm recently divorced. The judge ruled that I give up my vehicle and didn't give me any sort of allowance to secure another. So I had roughly two days to get a car. The judge ordered that I sign a quick claim and take owner ship of our house that I had not lived in in over 3 years and that is over an hour from where I live and work. my name was on the deed but not the note. I don't understand how she could rule that I take the house. Not to mentioned I never wanted the house. Just the my half of the equity. My credit is too damaged to even secure a loan. I had to get a cosigned for my car. THere was nothing in the decree that said i HAD to get a loan and now my ex is taking me to court in contempt for not paying on the load. The judge assumed i would make money when the house sold but the market is so bad and my ex had his adult children living in the house and they ran it to the ground. the judge ordered that he make repairs but she never enforced it regardless to how many times it was brought to her attention (photos). I don't know what I'm going to do. I appear in court on the 8/22/08 my lawyer is no longer rep. me because I can't afford to pay fast enough so i will appear unrepresented. please advise on what to do.

Re: Unfair Judgement
If you sign a quit claim deed, then you are giving up your ownership of the house. So, you are not taking the house. The rest of what you wrote makes it unclear as to whether you were ordered to pay towards the loan. If not, then you just need to quit claim your interest on the house over to your ex.
