Legal Question in Family Law in Kentucky
verbal agreement for property
My mother has lived with a man for over 14 years (not married).Prior to their relationship, she had received over $30,000 for a ''job buyout.''She and this man wished to buy a home. He was not going to buy unless he could pay cash (he didn't want to pay interest), So, my mother wrote a check to him for 30,0000 and the home was put in both their names. After approximately 8 years of living together, she signed her half of the home over to him in agreement(verbal)that he would take care of her for the rest of her life(lifetime estate-both money and home). He had a new will stating he would grant her a lifetime estate but it does not mention her signing over the home. Since that time she has had a stroke is limited in verbally communicating and he has now met another woman and has told her she must leave the house and he is not giving her any money from the home if he sells. Does she have any legal
recourse to recoup money? A family member witnessed her write the check and him tell her he would pay her back.

Re: verbal agreement for property
The questions presented by the facts you set out are much too complicated to address here. My best response is that this is a type of question that should be discussed in an office setting where more detail can be brought out. There are a lot of things that I would want to know here. Contact a local attorney for an appointment. The cost will be reasonable (if any at all for initial consultation).
