Legal Question in Family Law in Kentucky

He is wanting to be daddy after 6 years

Ok to make a long story short, my childs father left me when I was pregant. He never wanted me to have our daughter, well child support office (PULASKI CO) located him this year in OHIO, well now as of the 8th of Aug. he has been seeing her. I want to know what i can do to stop this mess. He is a drug user, he did stuff to me that I wouldnt do to a dog and know he wants to be a daddy. My lawery more or less turned me over to him, he didnt back me up like he said he would . I dont want this man around MY CHILD, I dont want any child support from him. but I cant make these people listen to me, for all I am concern he can give up his rights or have my mom and stepdad adopt her just to be rid of him. I am scared if I rock the boat he my try something or hurt us or try to get custody (which would just total traumatise my daughter). I have his past record and not good. He seems to be in trouble with the law even after 6 years. Can you please HELP ME, I need some advice or a good tough lawery here in town that will back me and my child and not through me to the wolves like the last one did..

I can think of several questions to ask but I will make an attempt. If you are receiving some sort of benefit from the state, then they will pursue the father of the child despite your wishes. I think that is what happened here. Unfortunately, the father has a right of visitation however that is not unlimited. The problem is that while we know that some people are not good to be around a child we cannot prove it. The only real thing that works is the filing of criminal records and often they are old. The father would have to agree in most cases for a name change or adoption or custody change to a third party such as your parents. My experience is that fathers such as this want to get what they are "paying" for and want to punish you be enforcing their support rights. They then can use the threat of a custody fight to get you to back off or they get visitation rights and for a short time use them but taper off after a while and you never see him or his money again. Seek the advise of other local counsel. You do not have to hire them, just ask opinion. Some charge and some do not.
