Legal Question in Family Law in Kentucky

My wife currently has Joint Custody with her ex husband. I have received a job offer that requires we move to Georgia this weekend. We have approached her ex husband and tried to reach an agreement to rearrange the visitation schedule so that he would still have the same amount of visitation. It would just be in blocks and not spread out over the year. He did not agree. So we filed a motion with the courts to have this done. The question is have we followed the right process? How should this hearing proceed? What should we expect?

You did exactly the right thing. If you can't agree on custody, you have to take it before the judge. The court will review the matter on a standard called best interests of the child. You should have an attorney for the process, it will make things easier. The hearing will consist of testimony regarding the move, what it will be like for the child, and how it will affect visitation with the child's father.
