Police violation of rights and privacy

My Daughter was involved with a son of a Police Officer. She had several brushes with the law in which she was not at fault. After each occurence ,the Police Officers wife managed to become aware of my daughters situation each time and is now using this information, to benifit her son in a custody fight over my Grandaughter. I.E. the Police Officers son VS' my daughter. It is obvious to me the Police Officer is telling his wife what goes on. Does my daughter have any legal recourse. NOTE; this is a small town Police Dept.

You really do not give enough information as to what types of situations are involved. There are really no such things as "confidential" police encounters. There may be situations where an explanation is due, etc.. I am assuming that your daughter is represented by counsel in this custody matter and it is up to him to question the authenticity of the information. Most domestic relations judges have heard it all at least 10 times over, so nothing is new. Rely on the advice of counsel here. The way information is handled and the way confrontations take place in a court proceeding are disturbing to the first time visitor. No one is trying to be nice here and in such a civil proceeding concerning the custody of children, everything is fair game.
