promissory notes

what happens when two parties sign a promissory note allowing two weeks for the first party to pay then the second party breaks the note before the two weeks is up and put a mechanics lien on property

I am not sure what you mean by "breaking the note". More facts are needed in order to provide an adequate answer. I do not know whether or not the two people are co-signers or one owes money to the other and for what.
