over time
i am working by the hour , and my boss advises me at the last minute that i will be working 12 hour shift for the next week . i ask him about overtime , said he does not pay overtime.

Generally, any hours that you work in a week in excess of forty must be paid at one and a half times your normal rate. Overtime pay is not discretionary and your employer must pay overtime if you are working overtime. If he is unwilling, you should contact an attorney.
