Issues after fire in apartment building
On 9/11/06 our building had a fire .. my apartment suffered water damage as well as some of the other apartments. Neighbors of mine have had repairs done after they complained. Once I complained about things needing to be done, the blame turned in my direction ... damages done by carpet contractors ripping up carpet is being blamed on my pets ... I was threatened with my lease not being renewed then it went to me having 30 days ... now it's I'm in for a long time ... as for a discount for being displaced neighbors received for full amount of time the were out ... I finally got a discount ... 1 wk -- I was out 2 wks. I was told she didn't have to give me that and if it weren't for ME we would not be getting the discount ... she likes ''me''. She told my husband, ''I like Angie'' . . . she actually has never met my husband before. And by the way, we are an interracial couple. She kept saying how she ''liked Angie'' ''if it wasn't for you'' -- The repairs have been 1/2 assed the ceiling in the living room was painted over .. however, it should have been repaired first .. the bathroom remains with a stained ceiling ... cabinets in the kitchen are still warped, but painted over ... our neighbors apt got things replaced - what can be done

1. You have no renter's insurance?

2. How much would it cost to fix all damages?

3. Need to see lease language re: damage and destruction clauses.

Perhaps a Demand Letter would be effective.

Do you have documentation re: cause of fire from Fire Dept.?
