Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Kentucky

We did a Notary document between friends last year. It was to sell our Truck for $2,500.00. In this document it said we will reimburse them if no damage. Heres the kicker, They Paid us $900.00 from January to April, they said we would get their tax return for the rest owed and then they kept telling us they cant pay this month, This went on for 5 months with NO PAYMENTS MADE. Now a year later they are saying we owe them all their money back. We do not agree being they were suppose to pay $200 a month and Did not do so. Plus, Notary doc said if new damage they would pay that. New damage fixed by husband was $135.00 we figured the 5 months RENT for truck not paid should be at the $200. rate agreed to. WHY SHOULD THEY GET A FREE RIDE ON OUR PENNY...so that is $1000.00 so Technically we owe them about $265.00 which my husband does not want to pay being his Military background and his best military friend took advantage of us. Can We Tell them that since we had to Repo the vehicle and they went 5 mo. without payment we owe them nothing, do we have any leg to stand on? FYI its been 7 months since we have repo'd vehicle and not talked to them since and We have always had title.

I really am not making much sense of this question. From what I gather, you entered into an installment contract with a Buyer to purchase your vehicle. Buyer made some payments, but then failed to make all of the payments. Then there's something here about damages to the vehicle, and some sort of reimbursement if there are no damages, but there's no specification of the amount that was supposed to be reimbursed, or why that provision would even be in the contract, and definitely nothing here about what the contract says regarding breach.

Frankly, what you're responsible for depends upon the language of that contract, and without reading the contract, no attorney can advise you of your rights or responsibilities under it.
