Statue of Limitations (?) for filing claim

Needing to know the ''Statue of Limitations'' for filing a claim against a Doctor who performed surgery on lower lumbar, which has resulted in having to have additional surgeries to try and correct his mistakes, which now cannot be accomplished.

Generally speaking I do not feel comfortable stating a statute of limitations without knowing more of the facts.
