Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Kentucky

My adult son is being detained in a local jail on some rather serious charges. In June of 2010, I purchased a 2001 Toyota Highlander for him. I have also, paid the insurance for the first year. Before he was arrested, he was, hiding from being picked up. The "friends" he was staying with now have his SUV. I obtained POA on the vehicle and now have the registration and title in my name only. This has not proved to be sufficient for the sheriff to pick it up. The sheriff said they have a bill of sale, however what he faxed to me is not a bill of sale, but a statement that he entered a pawn deal with the lady for $500 and pay back $700. It was witnessed by her live in boyfriend. This is not a bill of sale. Now what can I do?

Get an attorney. There is now an issue of title, and the sheriff won't get involved without a court order.
