Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Kentucky

Homestead Exemption defined by Constitution

I understand that there is a homestead exemption in Kentucky Constitution that allows a person to keep there home from creditors. Could you explain this more. I have looked under constitution but can find this anywhere. I am disabled and have filed a homestead exemption with the PVA.

Thanks

The only exemptions that apply are those concerning the collection of a debt after a judgment and then only a limited amount. This same amount can also be claimed in Bankruptcy. It will not protect you from the collection of a mortgage or from child support. The "Homestead Exemption" you refer to is for property tax purposes to reduce the taxable value of senior citizen's homes so that they pay less tax if any.
