Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Kentucky

my husband and i have a land contract to purchase property from another couple for 26,600. as of dec. 2010 we had paid that much. then the other couple told us they still owed money to the bank for the property and said we have to continue to make payments till 2014. my question is do we have to or can we take them to court and get the property?

Depends on your land contract, and if they were selling you the property free and clear from any liens or if you were supposed to take it subject to a lien. Was it your attorney who drew up the contract or theirs? I would suggest visiting a real estate attorney as soon as possible.
