Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Kentucky

Landlord

Does a landlord have the right to walk in your property for no reason. If you didn't answer the door does he have the right to just walk in. Once the lease is changed in anyway make it valid? For instance the landlord lets you change from a 1 year lease to a 6 month as long as you pay extra for the months you lived there. Can he still keep the deposit since I paid him the extra money per month for the shorter lease.

Re: Landlord

Everything depends upon the contents of the lease agreement. Most lease agreements grant the landlord the reasonable right to inspect. On the other hand, the landlord usually covenants to give you "quiet" enjoyment. There can come a point where the landlord can interfere with your occupancy and give you cause to "break" the lease. Unfortunatley, whether or not you had cause is usually decided by the courts and most tenants find it cheaper to pur up with it until they can move and not suffer any penalty under the lease.
