legal rights

What are the rights a tenant has if she becomes pregnant? Is it illegal for new mom to have only one bedroom apartment? Can the pregnant mom break the lease?

Re: legal rights

To partially answer your question, if the lease says only the person who signed the lease can reside there and makes no reference to after-born children and is a specifically adult area, I would encourage mom to look for a new place to live. If the lease provides for situations where a child is born after the lease is executed, then follow that language.

I am still looking for law I once heard of where the state says how many bedrooms a person with a child must have. It's been 20 years and I'm still looking. No, it is not illegal for a person in a one bedroom home to have a child living there too. What bothers the social services agencies of the state and local authorities is what occurs in the presence of the child or whether the child is being taken care of under those circumstances.
