Rights of homeowner
We bought a home 10 months ago within two months the backroom stated to leak severely. We bought the house as is with no home inspection preformed. But in the disclouse statement there was nothing stated about the room leaking, but when you look at the roof you can see that it has been patched several times before. You can see where the plaster inside was repaired also. Do I have any legal recourse or am I stuck with the problem

In the purchase of real estate, the principal of "Buyer Beware" applies. This means that property is sold as is unless the seller conceals a defect that could not be discovered by normal inspection, etc.. This is why more and more banks are requiring home inspectors. This is not to say that you have no recourse, but it is the rule when determining who pays for the repairs-the buyer or seller. For immediate self-help, I would contact the real estate agent (if there was one) or the seller and ask about the problem anyway. Depending upon the result or reception, you may want to at least consult a local attorney to get some input after he/she can examine the specific facts. Good Luck.
