Legal Question in Tax Law in Kentucky

My ex and me broke up on bad terms after I had claimed her children on my taxes for the first time since we had been together. I got back a little over $6000 and spent most of it on her and the kids and the rest on rent. Then the break up, and shortly after was audited and all I needed was her to have a letter notarized from her stating the kids were in my care, and a copy of their birth certificates, and she would in no way comply. Now I am stuck paying all of this back to the government and I want to be out of debt, but i only make around 12k a year. What legal recourse can I take against her, or to help with this debt?

I'm not sure you have any legal recourse, but you should consult a tax attorney. There maybe different evidence you can present without her cooperation.
