Legal Question in Traffic Law in Kentucky

Mechanical problems result in reckless driving citation --

I have received a citation for reckless driving while driving in city limits. The description for the reckless driving offense was for "barking," or squealing for a very short time, the tires.

I experienced transmission problems that caused the clutch to repeatedly lose and regain traction, causing the tires to repeatedly bark.

Under these circumstances, is there a chance that the charge will be dropped? If so: strong, slight, next-to-none?

There is always a chance the judge will believe you. I would fight this and bring in your mechanic who has examined the vehicle to explain the problem. Maybe the judge might drop it to improper equipment or the like to help you out. It doesn't sound like it fits reckless unless there were other circumstances. You definitely don't want a reckless on your record for insurance purposes. Good Luck.
