Legal Question in Traffic Law in Kentucky
reckless driving
I received a r/d ticket for hitting my brakes when an unmarked police officer in a minivan with a doughnut tire was tailgating me. What should I do? How should I plea? Do I need a lawyer?

Re: reckless driving
Asking a lawyer if you need a lawyer is like asking a barber if you need a haircut.
Reckless Driving is a 4-point violation in Kentucky, and after 12 points you lose your license for 12 months.
From what you describe, it appears that the officer was at fault for tailgaiting you in the first place. Applying your brakes cannot be considered reckless driving.
You should plead not guilty and ask for a hearing before the judge.
