Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Kentucky

Deceased mother's inheritance

On March 21st my mother passed away. Her half sister called me claiming that my mother's father had left her an amount of money in his will. If my mother did not leave a will (her brother is part executor of the grandfather's estate) would I be privy to this inheritance? If I were how would I go about pursuing this? The location of this will would be in the state of Michigan. I reside in KY.

Re: Deceased mother's inheritance

You really should re-ask this question and choose Michigan law since that law would most likely apply. Under Kentucky law, you would have a claim upon any assets that belonged to your mother. If she was to receive an inheritance and this right had been fixed prior to her death by the will being probated, then that claim would pass to you.
