How do you find execuator to an estate?

Can the execuator of a will be the sole beneficiary of an estate and does that execuator have to notify the legal next of kin and possible heirs?

Re: How do you find execuator to an estate?

In Oregon, the executor of an estate can also be the sole beneficiary. This is not a particularly unusual situation, especially with couples, where the husband leaves everything to the wife. The wife is often designated as the executor for the estate.

The executor of the estate has a number of duties, among those is to identify and notify all heirs or devisees for the estate. The executor is also responsible for identifying all the creditors of the decedent and making sure that those bills are paid. Only after the estate's debts are settled can any funds be distributed to the heirs/devisees.
