If you were originally a beneficiary listed in a previous will you have standing to contest the validity of the will offered for probate.

As for the original will you may check with the surrogates court in the county in which the decedent lived. It is possible but not required that they placed a copy on file with the clerk.

If that comes up empty, do you have a copy of the original will listing you as a beneficiary? If so, you can offer the copy as a replacement in the event that your contest is victorious.
