Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Kentucky
Is it legal?
My mom just died from cancer. She was a widow, and she has myself and my sister. Sis was made POA for medical reasons, and I was always told by mom estate would be 50-50. 70 days before mom died (after will was written) my sister and her husband purchased my mothers house for $1.00 effectively leaving no estate to be split. She now says the house is hers and I am not even allowed to go in to go through my mothers belongings (even though sis said she is donating most of it). My mother never mentioned anything about this, and my sister will not let me see will. She has not filed it with probate court. In addition, there was an error on document transfering the house, it claimed the transaction was from grandparent to grandchild and therefore was not subject to tax. It was actually a transfer between parent and child and child's husband. Is this legal? Is there anything I can do do get some of my mothers personal effects? What can I do if she disposes of everything?
