Protect assets for grandmother that was just put in a nursing home
My grandmother was just placed in a nursing home and I am looking for ways to protect her life long assets. She has a home, a car and some monetary assets in the bank. Is there a way to gift these or the money to help protect them from being taken over? I am looking for ways to protect as much of her assets as possible. It is a shame that she would lose everything to a rest home because she became sick.

Medicaid planning can be fairly complex and there is now a 5 year reach back period for the distribution of assets. You can get into some hot water with this so you really ought to consult an attorney directly.
