My dad's nephew is executor on grampa's will.My dad is the beneficiary of the life insurance policy.Who is responsible for what? Does my dad have any rights over the estate?

The life insurance benefits pass to your dad outside of probate and have nothing to do with the will. The nephew is the executor and your dad does not have any special rights as a result of being named beneficiary.
