Legal Question in Criminal Law in Kenya
Hi, I was assaulted by my ex boyfriend in my house, he tried to strangle me, twisted my arm which is now swollen and hit my head against a seat. In self-defence in the whole commotion I scratched him with a key. He locked me in the house and went to get the police, he told them I tried to kill him with a knife and the police did not want to hear my side of the story. He went away with my phone and laptop. When we were living together, we bought most of the furniture together and after separating I have had them for three years. He is now claiming that that is his property. What legal action can I take?

Dear Madam,
Please lodge a fresh Police complaint against your ex boyfriend for :
1. causing harm, personal injury and threat to life;
2. stealing your property / valuables worth KES .......... and request for investigation and return;
3. raising a false claim on the furniture & fixtures purchased with your self earned money.
Thereafter, forward a copy of the fresh Police complaint lodged by you, with the local Self Government Department Office in your locality, for their information and necessary action.
