Legal Question in Disability Law in Louisiana

I have a debt that is being collected by an agency. We had an agreement with them to draft money from our checking account but they are charging us a fee to do so. I called to have the draft stop and was told if I did they agency would presue actions to garnish my wages or sieze other assets. I am currently unemployed and would be sending them some money each month but not the amount they have been requesting. Can the agency continue to take action if I am sending the some kind of payment?

They will have to file suit, receive a judgment then file a garnishment before they can begin doing so.

You should NEVER give ANYONE your account information!!!! EVER!!! Since you are unemployed there is nothing to garnish and they will accept your payment. They will threaten and yell and jump up and down and try to scare you, but they will accept payments. Calmly tell them that if they do not stop bothering you and accept payments, you will not pay anything and if necessary you will file backruptcy. They will yell and hang up and threaten....but they will accept payments.
