Legal Question in Disability Law in Louisiana
Disability discimination
My child was taken by OCS because I was using drugs. I now have 7 months of sobriety, and have completed their case plan. I have a spinal cord injury, and strongly believe that they are using it as reason for not returning my child. I have the funds to take care of my child, plus around the clock aids to help me with him. My appointed attorney ( Dawn Mims ) will not return my calls or any of messages. I've written the judge recently requesting a new attorney, given I can not afford one, but have not heard anything back from him ( Jimbo Stephens ) My social worker, drug program insrtucter, parenting class women, and counseler all agree that they are going to request that my child be returned, but I'm having a problem getting a court date. I have to call in every morning for randem drug testing, which I have always passed. I also attend NA meetings every week. Please help me, I pray and want nothing more than my child returned. It has been 7 months since they took him.

Re: Disability discimination
This is not a disability discrimination matter. This is a children's code matter. I could not find either the attorney or the Judge you named in your email, so I do not know the Parish where your case is being heard. If you wish, write and give me more information. It sounds like you will be getting your child back at the next court date. The code has very specific times when dispositional reviews are to be held. Listen to your worker, she/he is the one who will make the report and recommendation to the judge.
