Legal Question in Disability Law in Louisiana

I recently got charged with public drunkeness in Shreveport, Louisiana. Affording a lawyer will be difficult. Should I get a public defender and if so what kind of fine and jail time am I looking at?

Disturbing the Peace by drunk in public is a misdemeanor and jail time can not be more than 6 months. You should always ask for a public defender and more than likely you will be fined and given probation.
