Legal Question in Appeals and Writs in Louisiana
avoiding garnishment
My husband is trying to pay off a monetary judgment. There is no court ordered monthly amount. We're sending the plaintiff everything we can afford each month but he's threatening to have my husband's wages garnished if we don't increase the monthly amount. Is he able to do that, or will the courts sympathize with the fact we're trying and deny his request?

Re: avoiding garnishment
They can garnish up to 25% of his net income until the judgment is satisfied in full. The court does not really deal with the garnishment process.
