Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Louisiana
Car and divorce
In my divorce papers, my ex-wife agreed to take over payments and assume all responsibilities on a vehicle that was a joint account. She never refinanced the vehicle so my name is still on the note. She is going to file chapter 7 bankruptcy soon. How will this affect me?

You will still owe the note to the finance company. Whether your ex-wife will be responsible for paying you back depends on how the paperwork is drawn up.
