Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Louisiana
Trying Not to file bankruptcy
I am a single 58 female whose income has been cut in half and a daughter going to college. I have contacted some of the credit card companies trying to get lower payments. I was told that the account would be closed, a negative would be reported on my credit rating and I still might not get a lower payment per month. I have cut out almost everything not necessary. I have little equity in my home and have a second mortgage. What other steps can I take to keep from filing bankruptcy?

Re: Trying Not to file bankruptcy
I would advise you to speak to an attorney about possibly settling your debt with the credit card companies. It may take some time, but an attorney may be able to help you save enough money to settle most,if not all your debt.
After an in-office consultation, an attorney would be in a better position to advise you on what you should do.
