Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Louisiana

Wife wont file

I recently got married, after we got married I found out my wife has over 20,000 in credit card debt. I myself just had a bankruptcy discharged. She thinks that she "can handle it". She brings home 1100 a month. She thinks if she pays half the bills she'll have enough to pay creditors. ( 1/2 bills = 1100 ). She feels bad because this was brought into marrige and wants to pay it off. There is no way in hell she can. How can I convince her that since I already have a bankruptcy on my credit, that no matter what, if we want a house, it doesn't matter how good her credit is. I need help to try to find the right arguement to convince her this is the best way.

Re: Wife wont file

No one can pay off $20,000 in credit card debt on $1,100 a month take home. Our experience is that when credit card debt equals annual income (before taxes) bankruptcy is the only alternative. Your wife is not even close. She needs to file. If she does not file now, the interest on the cards will only increase and she will end up filing bankruptcy later.
